Siemens wet air oxidation for caustic water

22 October 2009

Two Sinopec plants in China will use Siemens Water Technologies’ Zimpro wet air oxidation to treat sulfidic, caustic wastewater generated in the production of ethylene.

Sinopec's Zhenhai and Tianjin ethylene plant projects will use the Zimpro wet air oxidation system to destroy odorous sulfide pollutants and generate a biodegradable effluent that can be discharged to conventional biological wastewater treatment. The Zhenhai plant will treat approximately 18.2 m³/hr of wastewater and the Tianjin system,14.5 m³/hr.

The Zimpro wet air oxidation process will also break down complex organic contaminants, such as phenols, to either carbon dioxide and water, or biodegradable organics.
