Severn Trent Water reveal plans for flood defence barrier

01 March 2010

Tewkesbury residents have been invited to view Severn Trent Water’s plans for a permanent flood defence barrier at the Mythe Water Treatment works

The flood defence barrier will replace the temporary barrier which was installed after the heavy flooding experienced by Gloucestershire and Worcestershire in 2007. During the flooding, the Mythe Water Treatment works was put out of action, leaving 350,000 people without drinking water for 17 days.

Work on the £5.5 million defence barrier in Gloucestershire is due to begin in mid-March. Local residents have been invited to view Severn Trent Water’s plans on 3 March at Tewkesbury Town Hall.
